Using Search Connectors and Commands

Search connectors are the logic words used to help narrow a search, such as AND, OR, AND NOT, by defining relationships between your search terms. The following articles provide descriptions and examples for each connector and command.

Caution:

The Search bar located on the homepage of Barbados Judicial System uses a natural-language system that does not support these connectors. However, the search fields in all other areas of the product do support these connectors.

Priority of Connectors

The connectors order runs from left to right. Examples follow.

Usage Result
insurance AND claim OR action This example enforces the AND connector before the OR connector as if the search was formatted.
insurance OR claim AND action In this example, the search returns the word insurance anywhere in the document or finds the word claim AND  action together within a document.
